All about Microblogging

In July 2009 Tumblr had 250 million page views. On May 16th Tumblr had 250 million page views

2 years ago word got out of some Tumblr stats, they were pretty impressive with 250,000,000 page views and 50,000 million visitors along with 650,000 new post per day. A year later David Karp, Tumblr CEO stated that “we’re on fire” with some new stats, 6 million users, 1.5 billion page views. If thats “on fire” I can’t describe what they are on now. Today on their staff blog Karp stated that Tumblr had 250 million page views, just yesterday. They are currently doing the amount of data that it took them a month to do 2 years ago, in a day. Frankly, its amazing. Tumblr is now doing roughly 7 billion page views a month and its growing like a weed. It was only April that they hit 6 billion and at the rate of growth they’ll hit 8 billion shortly. One year ago Tumblr had around 4.5 million posts a day, today it should hit 30 million. Across the whole network there are 18.8 million blogs. There have been 5.5 billion posts so far, and it was only a year ago they passed the 1 billion mark. The only downside is Tumblr has had some downtime issues, but seeing these stats, you can’t COMPLETELY blame them, though 14 hours is pretty bad.
