Twitter closing in on 800 million funding, worth 8 billion dollars

Twitter is about to pull in a round of 800 million in funding making the company worth around 8 billion  dollars. According to the report the funding will be in  two parts, 400 million for the actual site, and 400 million for cashing out employees that are being clear housed because of their relation ship with Biz Stone and company. This is similar to what Facebook did with 200 million in funding back in 2009.

Something interesting is DST, which is also investing in Groupon and Zynga is participating in the deal. JP Morgan is also involved in the round of funding.

This round which is expected to be closed within the next 2 weeks will but Twitter’s value at 8 billion, this could be allot higher if Twitter got a positive cash flow.
